Broadcast Music Inc., AGMA, AFTRA, MTNA
Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Caterina Rossini is an international mezzo-soprano, vocal pedagogue, and adjudicator whose career bridges the classical Italian tradition with contemporary American operatic and concert practice. Immersed from an early age in classical theater and music, she was guided toward two formative influences: Dominique De Fazio, former Actors Studio teacher and assistant to Lee Strasberg, and Francesco and Liliana Recchia, internationally respected voice educators whose innovative work expanded the Melocchi and Piervenanzi schools of vocal technique.
Caterina received her formal training as a lyric mezzo-soprano at the private conservatory of Francesco and Liliana Recchia in Rome. In 2003, she relocated to New York City to pursue advanced vocal studies and deepen her engagement with the American musical tradition, developing an artistic voice that combines Italian Bel Canto foundations with stylistic versatility across operatic and concert repertoire.
Throughout her career, Caterina has collaborated with eminent conductors, directors, composers, and fellow artists, and has appeared with distinguished opera companies and institutions in the United States and Europe. She served for many years as a Staff Performer at the Metropolitan Opera, working within one of the world’s most selective and prestigious operatic institutions. Her additional engagements include appearances with DiCapo Opera Theatre, New York City Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, and performances at leading venues such as the Smith Center in Las Vegas, historic concert halls in Rome, and the Olympic Theatre. Her work is widely recognized for its fusion of dramatic depth, stylistic integrity, and refined Italian vocal technique.
In addition to her performance career, Caterina is deeply engaged in vocal pedagogy and professional evaluation. She regularly mentors and evaluates emerging singers, drawing on decades of high-level performance experience to assess vocal technique, repertoire suitability, stylistic interpretation, and professional readiness. She is currently authoring Treatise of Vocal Technique, a comprehensive pedagogical work that articulates an original methodology integrating operatic performance practice, vocal sustainability, and advanced diagnostic tools for singers at pre-professional and professional levels.
Now based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Caterina continues to perform internationally while expanding her work as an educator, adjudicator, and cultural leader. Through Mostly Classical Performing Arts, she promotes classical performance and artist development in the United States and abroad, leveraging longstanding professional relationships cultivated through her work at the Metropolitan Opera and across the international opera community.
Passionate about knowledge-sharing and artistic excellence, Caterina is committed to shaping the next generation of singers while contributing meaningfully to the evolving field of classical vocal performance.
